Technical engineers are the occupations with the best prospects in the country as a whole.

The Observatory of Work and Productive Model of the Generalitat of Catalonia has a tool that shows which professions are best positioned in Catalonia and in each region, which is published every year by the Department of Work and which makes a ranking based on the position of each occupation in the Catalan labor market.

Throughout Catalonia, management and organization analysts, database and computer network specialists, and technical engineers are the best positioned.

The information shows the situation of occupations through signed employment contracts (entries into employment) and the people who demand this job through the Public Employment Service of Catalonia. The situation of each occupation is summarized in an index that allows the occupations to be ordered, from best to worst positioned in the labor market.

The vast majority of the ten best-positioned professions in the Catalan labor market are related to engineering and more technical studies.

Industrial technical engineers achieve a score of 64 (out of 100) in this index thanks to 55.7 in hiring, 72.5 in quality and 64.2 in applicants. In Catalonia, in 2024 there were 837 contracts for industrial technical engineers, 84.5% of which were permanent. By gender, 76% of those employed as industrial technical engineers are men, while only 24% are women. By age, 38.8% are between 30 and 44 years old, 23.2% are between 25 and 29 years old, while 23.3% correspond to 45 years or more. 22.3% work in technical engineering and architectural services.
