Presented the national report of the IV Industrial Barometer - International Chair COGITI of Engineering and Industrial Policy (UCAM)

The online survey was conducted between October and December 2020, and it was answered by 3,340 engineers with an average age between 40 and 49 years (37%), of which 89% were men compared to 11% of women. There is a high percentage of employability (82%) and the vast majority are self-employed (60.33%), followed by self-employed (30.77%) and civil servants (8.9%). Most work in the Engineering services sector (33%), followed by the industrial sector (24%).

The General Council of the Technical Industrial Engineering of Spain (COGITI) has presented, his IV Industrial Barometer of the COGITI-International Chair COGITI of Engineering and Industrial Policy (UCAM), corresponding to 2020, that as already did in the previous edition, has again had the collaboration of the General Council of Economists of Spain (CGE), the Service of Studies (Chair EC-CGE) has elaborated the report. An economic perspective of the situation of the industry in Spain: update 2020, that includes in this edition of the Barometer.

Representatives of the two organizations took part in the presentation and press conference, held electronically. On behalf of COGITI, its president, José Antonio Galdón, and the coordinator of the Barometer, Mònica Ramírez; and by the CGE, its president, Valentí Pich, and the director of the EC CGE Chair and coordinator of the report, Salvador Marín. The event was also attended by Cèsar Nicolau, Secretary of the COGITI International Chair in Engineering and Industrial Policy (UCAM).

As explained by the President of COGITI, José Antonio Galdón, the Industrial Barometer of COGITI -which also has the collaboration of the Fundación Caixa de enginyers- is a sociological study in which, through the answers offered by about 3,400 Industrial Technical Engineers and Graduates in Engineering from the industrial branch of all productive areas and throughout the Spanish geography, the current situation of the sector in Spain is assessed. The Barometer - Galdón pointed out - "aims to provide relevant data that are of interest in decision-making, both for representatives of the public sphere and for the private sector".

Following this introduction, Mònica Ramírez presented the results of this 2020 Industrial Barometer.

After the presentation of the results of the Industrial Barometer, Valentí Pich, President of the General Council of Economists of Spain, and Salvador Marín, Director of the Chair of Accounting Economists of the CGE, spoke, summarizing the main aspects included in the 'report entitled "An economic perspective of the situation of the industry in Spain: update 2020", elaborated by the Service of Studies of the General Council of Economists, and that includes in this edition of the Barometer.
