The Council of Ministers has approved Royal Decree 906/2025, of 7 October , which regulates direct subsidies to various entities linked to research and knowledge . The objective is to guarantee their operation and promote scientific and cultural cooperation at the state level.
The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities , led by Diana Morant , will allocate more than 1.7 million euros to nine institutions to cover operating expenses, and an additional 198,000 euros for a specific investment by the Valencian Language Academy.
Beneficiaries include the Institute of Catalan Studies, Euskaltzaindia, the Real Academia Galega, the Sociedad de Ciencias Aranzadi, Eusko Ikaskuntza, Jakiunde, the Academia Aranesa dera Lengua Occitana, the Academia de la Llingua Asturiana and the Fundación Iura Vasconiae.
According to the decree, the direct concession is justified for reasons of public and social interest , and is part of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2024-2027 , specifically within the Institutional Strengthening subprogram . This instrument aims to strengthen the scientific fabric and the institutions that preserve and develop knowledge in the various territories of the State.
Beneficiary entities will have to justify the use of the funds before April 30, 2026 and prove that they comply with their tax and social security obligations. The decree also establishes control and transparency mechanisms and prohibits the subcontracting of subsidized activities .
The Royal Decree enters into force the day after its publication in the BOE, on October 8, 2025.
