Last Friday, May 30, the First plenary session of the Network of Business and College Offices to promote the Energy Transition of Catalonia was held, organized by ICAEN. Among others, the Energy Outlook of Catalonia-PROENCAT 2050 and the public Digital Platform comunitatenergetica.cat were presented at the event. The session was attended by Enginyers Tarragona, the manager and the head of the College's Energy Transition Office.
The director of the Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN), Anna Camp, explained that the energy transition in Catalonia towards a model based on energy efficiency and distributed generation of renewable energy is a very ambitious objective that requires the participation and involvement of all sectors and that decentralized action is a key point. The existence of units and teams located throughout the territory of Catalonia that can support energy transition projects locally greatly increases the effectiveness and credibility of the policies to be developed during these next 2 years.
He stated that it is necessary to lead the energy transition in Catalonia to defend a "100% renewable and denuclearized" model and comply with PROENCAT 2050, the roadmap approved in June 2023 and which, among other measures, envisages boosting renewables in Catalonia with the main objective of allowing business entities and professional associations to make resources and technical knowledge available to companies, especially small and medium-sized ones, to accompany them in renewable energy projects, energy savings and efficiency or in the establishment of energy communities.
