There are currently more than 100 engineering degrees in the industrial field, the so-called "white degrees", which do not grant professional attributions. This situation generates a lot of frustration among graduates when they discover, after four years of study, that they do not have the professional attributions that allow them to fully practice as engineers, since they cannot sign projects, as it is a regulated profession. This situation comes from the misinformation with which students access their studies, the confusion generated by the names of engineering degrees and the fact that in many cases skills and attributions are confused.
This was explained by the dean of the College in an interview for Noticias Cuatro.
In the report "Analysis of Engineering Studies in Spain", INGITE highlights a worrying situation: more than 200,000 people with engineering training cannot practice professionally. Based on official data, the study points to the excess of specialized degrees that restrict practice to regulated fields and a marked drop in interest in studying Engineering.
From the analysis carried out, it emerges that there is an urgent need to adopt measures in this regard, both to promote vocations in the field of Engineering, and to reorganize the academic and professional model of engineering in Spain.
