Last Tuesday, February 23, the day on the New Regulation of Pressure Equipment was held at the headquarters of Engineers Barcelona, organized in conjunction with the Boiler Guild.
The day was held in the morning with a duration of four hours, which was attended by ten speakers and more than a hundred attendees who followed the conference both in person and by streaming.
Representing our organization was attended by the Vice Dean, Mr. Josep M Pàmies (pictured, right), who also participated in the welcoming ceremony with a small speech of thanks to the collaborators and participants.
The new Pressure Equipment Regulation (REP 2021), Royal Decree 809/2021, entered into force on 2 January 2022, is a revision of the regulation still in force, (REP 2008), Royal Decree 2060/2008. And in the thirteen years since its publication, there have been legal changes that advised its revision. Some of these changes are the Pressure Equipment Directive published in 2014, the European legislation on product classification, labeling and packaging (CLP) which was amended in 2008, or the Services Directive of 2006, which was transposed. to the Spanish legal system in 2009, which already meant certain modifications of the REP 2008 by Royal Decree 560/2010. Obviously, this update of the legal references of the REP, important in itself, has led the Ministry of Industry to introduce certain changes to the regulations for pressure equipment, which require a detailed analysis.
The new REP 2021 was reviewed at the conference, to help industry players apply it correctly and effectively. And, to the extent that it may affect the organization of the installation and repair companies (competent technicians in staff), which allows its owners to take the appropriate measures for adaptation.
