Addressed to: The EFPA Financial Education Programme is specifically designed for professional adult groups, including professional associations, associations and guilds. Participation in this programme is completely voluntary and free of charge, with no cost to participants. Furthermore, it is important to note that the programme focuses exclusively on education and learning, without pursuing any commercial objectives.
Objectives:

In the context of the current economic and financial framework, the need to provide financial knowledge to various groups and levels, including adults in professional fields, is more important than ever. EFPA Spain, as an association of financial advisors and planners, is committed to improving the financial capacity of both society in general and professionals in particular.

In addition, we have noticed a growing awareness among our members about the importance of Financial Education programs, and many express their interest in voluntarily participating in these programs. This social need, combined with the vocation of EFPA Spain and the willingness of our members, has given rise to our Financial Education initiative. This initiative consists of a series of workshops on personal finance, taught by our financial advisors and planners, all acting as volunteers.

We firmly believe that participants in this program will gain greater awareness of their personal finances, plan more effectively, and learn to calculate their future financial needs to meet their personal goals.

Workshops:

EFPA has designed a structured and logical approach to its program, which allows attendees to progressively expand their knowledge of fundamental aspects of finance. This sequential approach ensures a solid and consistent understanding of basic financial principles, facilitating effective and cumulative learning.

Workshop 1

Personal financial planning (I). Accounts in order.

This session teaches the basic principles for budgeting, including the different ways to plan, monitor and control personal spending.

Workshop 2

Personal financial planning (II). Long-term planning.

This session focuses on financial planning and will help attendees put into practice the knowledge they have acquired, such as having an emergency fund and preparing themselves with basic economic and financial knowledge. Knowing how to calculate the pension we will have left, what savings we will need and what products exist.

Workshop 3

Sustainable investments with criteria: from plan to action

This session deals with the last step of financial planning, which is the design and implementation of a portfolio of securities, and we will provide guidelines to know our disposition to investment and what is called risk aversion. Know the different types of model portfolio, know how to analyze the pros and cons of direct investment.

Workshop 4

Macroeconomics and family finances

This session will explain how to interpret various economic indicators (gross domestic product, unemployment, industrial production, exports, inflation, etc.) and the role of monetary policy through central banks and the economic policy applied by governments. Understanding macroeconomics is vital to predicting the future trend of interest rates, stock markets or currencies in the short and medium term. This is useful for planning by governments, companies or savers.

Workshop 5

Psychology for making economic decisions

In this workshop we will reflect on the fact that, sometimes, people make decisions that cannot be strictly qualified as rational, that is, that they are neither the most aligned with our economic and financial needs, nor do they maximize the utility we obtain from them. We will see how certain issues, which have more to do with psychology than with economics, introduce important conditions into our decision-making processes, sometimes making them inefficient for our needs and objectives.

Workshop 6

Digital finance and AI: how it can help you

This session complements the previous ones by providing knowledge about the newest tools and within the reach of the user that new technologies are allowing. The impact that new technologies have had on the financial sector and on the ability to manage our finances is explained. Both banks and the traditional financial sector and the new entrants that compete with them (the so-called fintechs, the technological giants or companies from other sectors such as telcos), are adopting new technologies to innovate in financial products and services. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing or blockchain, are improving both internal processes and the customer experience of users.

Workshop 7

Saving on housing: Buy or rent

New in Edition XII

This workshop offers a clear and practical view of the two main savings options —housing and financial markets— and analyzes when it may be more convenient to rent or buy. Through quantitative aspects (profitability, costs, comparisons) and qualitative aspects (security, mobility, savings discipline, risk aversion), people are helped to make informed decisions that are consistent with their life goals.

Workshop 8

Your home: practical guide to purchasing, financing and real estate taxation.

New in Edition XII

This workshop was created to respond to one of the most important financial decisions in a person's life: buying a home. Often, this process is faced without a global vision of the real cost, the tax implications or how bank financing really works. The workshop offers a clear, practical and applied approach so that participants can make informed decisions, avoid common mistakes and understand the financial impact of buying a home in the short, medium and long term.

Workshop 9

Taxation: beyond paying taxes/ Foral Taxation: beyond paying taxes (Basque Country)

In this workshop we will learn about the framework, both from the point of view of direct taxation (e.g. IRPF) and indirect taxation (e.g. ISD), and its distribution. The impact that different forms of savings and investment have on a professional's IRPF is shown, distinguishing when necessary between those who carry out their work on their own account (Self-employed or Mutual Members) and those who carry it out within the framework of an employment relationship (Employees) and we will briefly address the main formal obligations derived from both IRPF, ISD, IP and to a lesser extent IS.

Workshop 10

Insurance and planning: to live with peace of mind

This workshop addresses the value of foresight within personal planning and the importance of protecting oneself against risks that can affect both people and their assets. A 360° planning vision is presented that integrates not only financial tools aimed at achieving life goals, but also insurance solutions that allow one to protect oneself against events that could make it difficult to achieve them. This first workshop explains the role of insurance that offers coverage against the economic impact derived from risks related to health, physical integrity or existence itself.

Workshop 11

New retirement models

The workshop seeks to provide key tools and knowledge to understand the new dynamics of retirement, promoting strategies that ensure financial stability and well-being in this stage of life. Through the analysis of emerging trends, savings and planning alternatives, as well as the integration of complementary instruments such as insurance and specialized financial products, participants will be able to design a more flexible approach adapted to their needs.
