8 hours
Teaching staff:
Joan Ramirez Guasch.
TESLING Energy Consultant.
Former associate professor of the DEM of the URV and professor of master's degree of the UB.
Professor of photovoltaic and energy efficiency courses in different engineering colleges of Catalonia
Targets:
On April 5, RD 244/2019 was approved, which regulates the administrative, technical and economic conditions of self-consumption of electric energy.

To train technicians to be able to properly design solar PV installations for self-consumption in all the modes contemplated by RD 900/2015, they use a program for calculating energy recovery and defining consumption profiles.

Photovoltaic self-consumption is a reality that will be implanted more and more in Catalonia, within the strategic plan of the Energy Transition of Catalonia and the momentum led by ICAEN.
Contents:

1. Regulatory framework and basic concepts

Legal framework for self-consumption. RDL 15/2018, RD 900/2015, RD 1699/2011 and RD 842/2002 (REBT).
Technical implications of RD Autoconsum:

- Types of installations. Connection point request. Procedures with the distributor.
- Shared self-consumption. Options.
- Legalization and registration of the facilities. Administrative register of self-consumption. Company channel.
- Technical project and technical design memory. Certificate of installation. Initial inspections.
- Zero injection. UNE 217001.
- Specific technical standards of the distributors.

2. Technical foundations of design and operation

- Analysis of the consumption profile. Consumption monitoring. Consistent or seasonal consumption profiles.
Different types of daily consumption profiles. Electricity bills and time discrimination. Rates 3.0.
Examples from customer invoices.
- Solar radiation. Hours and monthly. Database. Calculation of solar production (different methods of
calculation, tools and resources). Availability of roof space. Shadows far and near. Calculation
of shadows. Shadow configuration solutions.
- Technical characteristics, design and operation of all the equipment that is part of one
solar installation (modules, inverters, electrical equipment, protection boxes DC and AC, etc.).
Mounting and fixing systems. Maintenance and operation of the facilities. Strings configuration.
Design conditions.

3. Schemes of self-consumption photovoltaic installations

This blog presents basic configuration schemas for all types of installations
self-consumption photovoltaics and the comparison with the other existing modes (assisted, isolated and
interconnected).
Basic diagram of self-consumption photovoltaic installations (with and without surplus management).
Basic diagram of the self-consumption photovoltaic installations with electric accumulation. Batteries
Comparison with basic scheme of the autonomous photovoltaic installations with the different
types of batteries that are currently available.
Different ways of representing unifilar and configuration diagrams. Lay outs.

4. Calculation and design of self-consumption solar photovoltaic systems. Valuation
energy. Computing software

Detailed dimensioning of a self-consumption facility
- Calculation of the optimum power according to invoices or consumption profiles (schedules, monthly).
- Implementation of the modules on the roof.
- Ripples. Centralized or decentralized. Strings configuration.
- Solar coverage vs consumption ratio.
- Recovery of the energy generated.
- Electrical calculations. Protections. Wiring and voltage drops.

5. Resolution of exercises. Calculation examples

Solving examples of calculation and design using different computer resources and tools, excel sheets and
configuration software (SUNNY DESIGN, Ampere energy, PIKO PLAN). Define consumption profiles a
from electric bills or monitoring. Import actual hourly consumption. Implantation in plant of the
modules (lay out). Drawing of single-line diagrams. Electrical calculations. Technical and commercial reports and proposals.
