| What is ICFO? |  The ICFO is a young institution that aims to advance the boundaries of knowledge of photonics, the science and technology of light. Light, specifically laser light, is one of the most promising technologies currently available to humanity. The research programs are framed in world-class frontier lines and are aimed at addressing the important challenges that society in general faces. They focus on problems, current and future, in health, energy, information, security, protection and care of the environment.
